The fire station chief hired us to provide a seismic evaluation of the existing 1970âs two story concrete masonry public firehouse structure. As part of the seismic rehabilitation grant program run by the State of Oregon, all public buildings are required to meet immediate occupancy after a seismic event. The Oregon Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program requires a seismic evaluation and pays for seismic upgrades to the building. Our scope was to perform a seismic assessment of the building based on our ASCE 31 field observations and provide a preliminary design set for the seismic upgrades with an overall cost estimate to finalize the engineering and complete construction.
